H. Chester Boston, Jr., M.D., one of the founders of University Orthopaedic Clinic, received his medical training at the Medical College of Alabama in Birmingham. Following a period in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Boston completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic and subsequently returned to Alabama to establish his orthopaedic practice in Tuscaloosa.

Dr. Boston is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and The American Board of Spine Surgery and he has served as President of the DCH Medical Staff as well as the Tuscaloosa County Medical Society. Dr. Boston has also served as President of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society. After several years of general orthopaedic practice, Dr. Boston completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the University of Maryland and since that time has devoted the majority of his practice to the care and treatment of spinal disorders utilizing both non-surgical and surgical methods. Dr. Boston has published articles on spinal disorders in scientific publications and has a special interest in spinal deformities such as scoliosis and degenerative diseases of the spine.
