Brian Scott Claytor, M.D., a native of Birmingham, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama.  His medical school training and orthopaedic surgery residency was completed at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.  He then completed additional training in Charlotte, NC with a fellowship in spinal surgery.  He joined UOC in 2005.

Dr. Claytor is the recipient of numerous academic achievement awards during his medical and orthopaedic training.  He has authored textbook chapters and journal articles relating to orthopaedics and spine surgery and has spoken at local, national, and international conferences about these topics.  He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Claytor’s professional interests include spinal surgery as well as non-operative treatment for spinal disorders.  He also practices general orthopaedics including arthroscopy and sports medicine, joint replacement, and trauma.

Dr. Claytor is married and has four children.  His hobbies include family, sports, and traveling.  He and his family are actively involved in community events, church, and numerous organizations.
