Kevin J. Thompson joined University Orthopaedic Clinic in 2010 after completing a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, N.C. Dr. Thompson received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, and his residency training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Thompson has special interest in sports injuries affecting the knee, shoulder and elbow ranging from ligament reconstructions to cartilage restoration. He also has experience in both total and reverse total shoulder replacements. He served as the team and assistant team physician for numerous high schools and colleges during residency, and has a strong interest in caring for the high school athlete.
Dr. Thompson is a member of the Alabama Orthopaedic Society, and in 2008 was the Society's Yelton Award Winner. Outside of orthopaedics, he enjoys golf and attending sporting events. Dr. Thompson and his wife, Adrianne, look forward to being active in the Tuscaloosa community.
